Hello People!
So today the girls in my family decided to go on a road trip. Not a very long one, but long enough. Where to you may ask? Well the answer is simple. Halifax, Nova Scotia.
If you've never been on a road trip before you believe that the drive there is fun, quiet, relaxing, and beautifully. Or maybe you have been on one and still think those thoughts. Well you've never gone on one with my family.
You see we're kind of mixture of psychos all put into one house. Here's a little intro. My mother: Tells you not to do something, goes and does it her self, also hangs out her laundry in the rain. My step-father: Can go from acting like the biggest and loudest jerk you've ever seen, to a super annoying 5 year old with in seconds. My twin: She adores boy bands. I'm talking about '5 Seconds Of Summer', 'One Direction', 'The Cab', etc. Her go to topic is them, and if she's reading it's probably a fan fiction. My brother: Is always doing something loud. Whether it's shouting, playing guitar, playing video games, or even building a bicycle! He's always on the go. My middle sister: She's got the sass and the fire of, well, Satan. You get her angry, she breaks something. But if she wants something she's all over you. Then there's my older sister. I'm pretty sure she's the only sane one in bunch. How she's put up with us all these years, I don't know. But she did it somehow! I think I've always looked up to her for that.
Anyways, back to the story. It started at 1:00 p.m. Now that's a pretty decent time to leave, if we actually left at that time. Both my twin and I got the same idea to pack last minute. Let me tell you, it's a horrible idea. Don't do it! So by the time we actually got the dog to stop trying to sneak his way into the car over and over again, we finally left. The moment the car started Twinie (the name I'm calling my twin) decided to show us that she brought all of her CD's. "Since it's a long drive we'll be able to listen to all of them!" Let me tell you, she was not lying. Not for one second was there a moment of silence. For me this was terrible. Not because it was bad music or anything. Don't get me wrong, I actually like '5 Seconds Of Summer' and 'Ed Sheeran' (especially Ed Sheeran) and even 'One Direction' But listening to them none stop, for hours, when you're running on 8 hours of sleep, is just nauseating.
So I try to block them out. I read some Avenger fan fictions on Wattpad, text my friends, eat some junk food. And it actually worked for a while...Then my mom decided to bother me. Since I was riding shotgun, I got the be her, and I quote, 'secretary'. She was supposed to get a conference call, through blue tooth, later on and since she was driving she couldn't write notes, so I had to do that. And just to let you know, I don't have the neatest penmanship. And if that wasn't made enough, I was also her personal GPS. Meaning she hands me a map, with directions written in the margin. And I read her them at the right time, or she yells at me and we get lost. FUN!!
But I must say, it was all worth it. Those few minutes when I was not busy with my mom, and blocking out Twinie, I could look out the window and see some of the most beautiful landscapes I've ever seen. And even when we reached Halifax and was down town, the city itself look amazing. To say I was impressed when we reached our hotel, Coastal Inn, is an understatement. Two Queen size beds, free Wi-Fi, A pool, free breakfast, and they have some movies that you can sign out and watch in your room. (We chose Spider-man 2)
So after a long car drive, a nice bit of swimming, and a junk food fest while watching Spidey on a flat screen, I can't complain. And this has just been day 1! Tomorrow we do some, okay a lot, of shopping, and maybe even a little sight seeing.
Until then,
